Generative AI is here to stay and is currently impacting all professional fields, including Landscape Architecture. How can Landscape Architects benefit from generative AI? RLA Rocio Martinez will share her experience after becoming familiar with some of the available tools and using them to streamline her work processes. This presentation aims to provide a basic introduction to Generative AI for Landscape Architects who are unfamiliar with it, would like to learn the available technologies and get an idea of how they could start implementing them in their professional practice.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Attendees will understand how to use AI for Mood Images and Photomontage  
  2. Attendees will understand how to use AI to Streamline The Visualization Of Design Ideas
  3. Attendees will understand how to use AI for text and other Landscape Architecture office operations.
  4. Attendees will understand the basic criteria for choosing between the Generative AI tools available.
  5. Attendees will understand Generative AI copyright infringement concerns.

            Meet the Speaker:

            Rocio Martinez MLA, BArch, RLA

            Tropico Design Studio

            Rocío Martínez is a registered landscape architect and a visual artist. She has worked in both architecture and landscape architecture firms, locally and internationally, gaining professional experience across a broad range of projects. After years of practice, she founded Tropico Design Studio, a Miami-based landscape architecture firm, where she serves as Principal. Additionally, she is an adjunct lecturer in the Department of Landscape Architecture at Florida International University, where she teaches Design Studio. Passionate about creativity and innovation, Rocío was a speaker on the topic of Generative AI for Landscape Architecture at the ASLA Florida 2024 Annual Conference & Expo and at the Land8x8 Lightning Talks 2024. Because of her interest in sustainable design, she serves as a member of the Florida ASLA Biodiversity and Climate Action Committee and is an accredited LEED Green Associate. Rocío holds an MLA from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia in Spain and a BArch from the National University Pedro Henríquez Ureña in the Dominican Republic, where she is a registered architect
