The Florida Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) has selected Adam McCollister as the 2019 recipient of the Exceptional Emerging Professional Award.   The honor may be awarded to one landscape architect who represents the highest standard of excellence and is in the early stage of their professional life.

After graduating from the University of Florida in 2014, Adam joined the team at Dix.Hite + Partners, a landscape architecture firm in Orlando, Florida. His natural leadership skills and passionate drive have helped him rise from entry-level designer to registered landscape architect and project manager in only four years, a course which takes many ten years to accomplish.

In Adam’s five years of professional experience, he has already made a significant impact within the profession.  Adam has been an active member of the ASLA Florida Chapter since his time at UF and has served in multiple leadership roles throughout his career.  Just months after graduating, Adam served as the 2015 ASLA Florida Conference Co-Chair, leading and organizing the Conference by coordinating the scheduling, tours, speakers, budgeting, and graphics production.  Also in 2015, while serving as Member-at-Large for Emerging Professionals, Adam worked to increase the Chapter’s social media presence and reach new members.   Adam’s leadership abilities and professional attitude earned him the respect of his peers, who elected him to represent the state of Florida as the next Chapter President.  Adam will assume the President role in November.

Eligible nominees for the award are associate or full members with less than ten years in the profession.  The winner is selected by a jury of Fellows in the Society.  Adam received the prestigious award in July at the Chapter’s annual conference in Orlando.
