Representative David Smith: Florida House of Representatives
David Smith was elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 2018. He now represents the citizens of House District 38. The district encompasses the Southwestern section of Seminole County and includes portions of Oviedo, Winter Springs, Casselberry, Longwood, Fern Park, Altamonte Springs and Wekiva Springs.
After 30 years of service, David retired at the rank of Colonel from the U.S. Marine Corps. He has worked in the private sector of Central Florida’s Simulation & Training industry for the last ten years. He is a Business Consultant.
Representative Cyndi Stevenson: Florida House of Representatives
Cyndi is a CPA by profession with over 20 years of experience in public accounting and in industry. She has worked in both large and small public accounting firms and maintained her own practice for a number of years. She has served as the controller for an insurance company as well as Children’s Home Society of Florida, one of the largest child welfare providers in the State. She also has experience in real estate, healthcare and small business.
From 2004 to 2015 she committed herself to public service as County Commissioner of one of the fastest growing counties in the State of Florida. After having been elected county wide three times, she successfully ran for Florida House of Representatives in a special election in April 2015 and is now serving in her second term in the Florida House.
Emily O'Mahoney
Emily M. O’Mahoney, FASLA, PLA, LEED AP is a partner in the firm of 2GHO, Inc. in Jupiter Florida working on a wide range of project types. Her technical specialty is accessibility, and her passion is for ASLA and landscape architecture, especially helping emerging professionals pass the LARE. Emily is serving as our ASLA President, the second of her three-year presidential term with national ASLA.
Ruthanne Christie
Ruthanne Christie is an Executive Director with the Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) where she oversees the Boards of Landscape Architecture, Veterinary Medicine and Electrical Contractors’ as well as the Asbestos Licensing Unit. Ruthanne has over 25 years of experience in state government, working with the professional boards at DBPR since 2001.
Elizabeth Hebron
Elizabeth Hebron has been with ASLA National for over six years. As Director of State Government Affairs, she works with ASLA Chapters to promote and defend landscape architecture licensure and to advance other key issues impacting the profession. Prior to joining ASLA, she worked four years on Capitol Hill and spent 10 years lobbying on federal legislative issues involving historic preservation, tax, appropriations, and affordable housing. She has BS and MS in Agricultural Economics from The Ohio State University.
Bradley Rawls
Bradley Rawls has worked at ASLA, as the Manager of State Government Affairs, for four and half years. In his role he assists in developing and implementing state government affairs programs and in representing and advancing key issues impacting the profession, particularly the promotion and defense of state licensure. Prior to joining ASLA, he spent 10 years advancing legislative priorities for the life insurance industry. He also has experience working in the U.S. Senate (office of U.S. Sen. Mel Martinez) and for Florida State Senator Victor Crist. He has a Master of Urban and Regional Planning degree from Virginia Tech and a BA in Business Administration from the University of Florida.
Diana Ferguson
Diana joined Rutledge Ecenia in January 2011 as an attorney and lobbyist. Her practice is concentrated in the areas of environmental and administrative law, regulated industries and government relations. She currently provides governmental advocacy services for several clients, including businesses, local governments, associations, and non-profit organizations. Prior to joining the firm, Diana provided legislative counsel to the Florida Association of Counties. In that capacity, she lobbied numerous environmental issues as well as other local government issues.
Laurie Hall
Laurie F. Hall, PLA, ASLA is the Director of Landscape Architecture for CHW Professional Consultants in Alachua, Florida, where over the last 15 years she has been involved in a wide range of community planning, multi-family residential, transportation, commercial, and campus projects throughout the Southern U.S. Laurie is a graduate of the University of Florida Department of Landscape Architecture and has actively participated in panels, field trips, and workshops with both UF and FIU throughout her career. She is an active member of ASLA, having served in multiple positions on the Florida Chapter Executive Committee, including two-terms as Chapter Treasurer, Conference Chair, and currently sits on the Women in Landscape Architecture PPN leadership team.
Kevin White
Kevin White is a Senior Landscape Architect with England Thims & Miller Inc. in Jacksonville, Florida. Kevin received his Bachelor of Science, College of Agriculture, University of Florida and his Bachelor of Landscape Architecture, College of Design, Construction and Planning, University of Florida- 2002 (1st graduating class of the 5-year accredited program). Kevin has been a committed member of ASLA Florida for 24 years and has served in various roles including President of the Chapter and currently serves as the Member at Large for Advocacy and Licensure.
