Please join Chris Flagg, FASLA, Vice-President, AE Operations Principal of Haskell as he leads a sketch walk through downtown Jacksonville. Chris is also the co- founder of Jacksonville Urban Sketchers, bringing the city into an international community group of “seeing the world one sketch at a time”, member of the First Coast Plein Air Painters, award winning watercolorist and avid sketcher teaching Instagram on-line courses and leading multiple ASLA, company and Urban Sketcher “sketchcrawls”. His 40 plus years of practicing landscape architecture, have always focused on the value of hand sketching to quickly illustrate design thinking.
By on site observation, this opportunity will hone your skills of design thinking through quick sketching techniques to determine scale, proportion, color, material and street entourage. This course will be a fast paced, fun experience that will build drawing confidence. By prioritizing your focal points and quickly illustrating your subject, this course will enhance the participants ability to better understand the art of simplifying a perceived complex subject. By practicing on-site quick sketch techniques, design thinking becomes more intuitive and the art of conceptual thinking enhanced.
Note: Wear walking shoes and bring your favorite sketch pen/pencils & sunscreen. Anova will provide Sketch books for each person, water bottle, energy breakfast bars and lunch!
